Vintage Sewing Fun!

I have finally recovered from our trip to disneyland and I am getting back to business as usual (well, except for the pesky holiday coming up next week)!  So, have you noticed this trend toward all things "vintage" lately?  Well this is right up my alley because I'm a little ummm...vintage myself!  I recently discover vintage patterns and now I have a new obsession love!  I found a couple on etsy (where else?) and ordered them.  I just started working on my first one and I am so excited!  Oh, and guess what else....I'm using some vintage fabric too!  It isn't as old as the pattern but I have actually had this fabric in my stash for 25-30 years!  I found it recently and had forgotten that I still had it!  I guess I'm a bit of a hoarder.  Well, it's not the cutest fabric but the first one is really just a practice one as it is a couple of sizes bigger than what Moppet is wearing I need to make some adjustments to the pattern.  I have some other great fabric in mind for the next one!

I was originally inspired by this dress that I found for Moppet this summer.  It is by designer Dagmar Daley and I love the vintage look of this dress.

It reminds me of the wrap style house dresses from a bygone era.  Of course this fabric is fabulous too!
I was looking for a pattern in this style which is what lead me to look at vintage ones, and I found this one....

It is a wrap style but crosses over in the back (which may be better for a 5 year old anyway).  I am using this "vintage fabric" for the first one....

Who knew I would find a use for this after all these years?  The pattern is dated 1958 (whew, it is more vintage than I am) the fabric is from the early 80s (best guess).

Then I found this adorable pattern, also dated 1958....

Eeek!  How cute is this??  This one takes care of my romper obsession and cape obsession all at once!  I can't  WAIT to make this one!  I will have to keep an eye out for the perfect fabric!  swoon...

I have started to cut out the first one but realized that I need my Moppet here to make the alterations to the pattern and she is at school!  Here I thought I was going to be getting so much more done once she started school full time but I often find that I have to wait for her to get home to measure, model and photograph!  Well, I hope to get this finished up in the next couple of days so stay tuned....
